Under the age of 18, the human body can grow, so can the eyes. This may cause the teenager to change his/her prescription frequently. LASIK is a definitive solution. Since we don't want to repeat LASIK procedure every six months, it is better to wait untill the eye reaches to a steady prescription. But there is an exception to this rule: if there are more than 4 diopters of difference between each eye and the child doesn't comply with the amblyopic treatment then the LASIK procedure might be the only solution to save and restore the vision.

During pregnancy hormone levels vary. The eyes and especially the cornea change under the influence of hormones. Thus the refractive data obtained during the pregnancy reflects this temporary change. In other words, during pregnancy prescription values are not reliable and naturally a LASIK procedure planned with this data will not be able to correct the real refractive error. We also recommend waiting till the end of the nursing period as well.
